Congress leader calls for Amit Shah's resignation

HITS OUT AT CENTRAL HOME MINISTER, SAYS HE CANNOT HANDLE KASHMIR ISSUE

VASCO

Dabolim Congress leader Capt Viriato Fernandes has on Friday hit out at the BJP union leaders for the Hindu killings in Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Fernandes demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah tender his resignation for not being able to handle the Kashmir issue.
"It is a very sad situation for Kashmiri Pandits and a sorry state of affairs in Kashmir. We have to go back to the 1990s exodus to understand the present situation. In the 1990s a lot of Kashmiri Pandits were killed and many fled from there never to come back and we had a national front government with VP Singh as PM supported by the BJP. The Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah was dismissed and Jagmohan Singh was got in as the Governor and he could do nothing even as Kashmiri Pandits became the target. After a few years, late AB Vajpayee became the PM and Jagmohan Singh was made a minister and yet nothing happened nor did they help to resettle the Kashmiri Pandits," said Fernandes.
"In 2015-16, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who was the Home Minister in the 1990s when the exodus happened, became the CM supported by the BJP again. We can see this game as they were all hands in gloves and we are seeing history being repeated and Kashmiri Pandits are being targeted again. They want to flee but the BJP Government is neither protecting them nor allowing them to flee. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is directly in control of the security because there is a Governor's rule and he is controlling it as the home minister. I think it is time for Amit Shah to put in his papers and resign because it is most disturbing that Kashmiri Pandits who are not protected, want to flee but are not allowed to do so by the BJP and people will give a befitting reply to the BJP soon," said Fernandes.
