The State government has taken on board a consultant to assist it to present proposals and secure funds from the Centre under various centrally sponsored schemes in the agriculture and allied sectors.
Darashaw and Company is the consultant appointed and the consultant is tasked with the responsibility of preparing detailed project reports (DPRs) to secure funds from the Central government.
The consultant will also help the State government's agriculture department to fast-track the procedures involved in preparing DPRs and also co-ordinating the Central schemes.
Some of the areas being looked at is rejuvenation of 'kazhan lands' besides diversification of crops, modernisation, marketing local produce and stingless bee farming.
Another area that the consultant will work on is creation of 'agri-hubs' along highways to market local agricultural produce.
The State government has proposed setting up of these 'agri-hubs' along highways, district roads and major district roads to market local agricultural produce as well as value-added products.
Darashaw and Company will be tasked with the responsibility of preparing a blue print for it, including fitting it in the parameters of existing central schemes so as to bag funds for it.
