Contractual Covid-19 warriors get 1 more year

Covid-19 warriors who had been taken on board to fight the pandemic by the State government will be kept engaged for yet another year, the State government decided on Monday.

An order issued by the State government said, the employment of contract staff recruited for Covid-19 related duties during the Covid pandemic period is being extended by a year.

Staff nurses, technicians and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) were taken on a contract basis throughout the State's fight against Covid-19 since March 2020.

The government communique said, the Chief Minister has directed that an extension of the contract for another year may be given to those who rendered services on a contract basis for more than six months.

It said, the sincere and dedicated effort during the pandemic will be recognised and some sort of preference accorded in filling up posts on a regular basis when vacancies arise.

Meanwhile, Goa recorded four new Covid-19 cases and two recoveries over the last 24 hours.

A total of 490 samples were tested and the positivity rate was 0.81%. There were also nil deaths in this period.
