To contribute for the betterment of the society as a citizen of the country is one's responsibility said, Deputy Chief Minister, Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar. Society's overall development depends on the unity of the people with good thoughts and opinions. These likeminded people can change the face of society, he added.
Kavlekar was speaking at the valedictory function of Food Production Course at seminar hall, Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao. The course was conducted by Agnel Vocational Training Institute, Verna in coordination with Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, Margao and sponsored by Home Department (NRI Cell) Overseas Employment Agency of Goa under Foreign Orientation Course and Skill Upgradation programme.
Speaking further, Kavlekar said, this type of self employment oriented courses benefits the beneficiary on large scale. Food production is the blooming business. Students should take benefit of these courses. Government has always extended its support to every unemployed citizen. One should only come forward to take benefits of the various Government schemes, subsidies and facilities, he remarked.
Further Kavlekar informed that Agriculture Department of the State has trained 40 operators to operate harvesters through training camps held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Margao and Old Goa. This will benefit the farming community in the State, he said.
Commissioner, NRI Affairs and Chairman, Overseas Employment Agency of Goa, Narendra Sawaikar said, one should change the mindset to get settled in life by getting Government service and should be self sufficient. Keeping the objective to motivate the skills and passions one has, his Agency is working in that direction. One should stand on their own feet and be financially self sufficient, Sawaikar said. He said sea food is Goa's delicacy which should be developed taking benefit of Food Processing Course. There are many other courses apart from food processing, he informed.
Director, Agnel Technical Education, Verna, Fr Anthony Castello also spoke on the occasion. Students shared their experiences and Certificates were distributed to the students. President, Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, Nelly Rodrigues welcomed while Sunil Bhat proposed the vote of thanks, as informed by Department of Information and Publicity.
