In a significant development that has raised many an eyebrow, the Town and Country Planning department has recommended change in zone to no development zone an area admeasuring 103,875 square metres consisting of partly paddy field, partly orchard, partly mangrove and partly settlement in Cavelossim village.
The TCP has issued a public notice inviting suggestions from the public within a period of thirty days from the date of publication of the Notification in the Official Gazette. All proposals specified in the below table are available for the purpose of inspection in the Regional Plan Cell, Office of Tiswadi Taluka, Town and Country Planning Department, the notice stated.
Suggestions, if any, to the said proposals as approved by the Goa Town and Country Planning Board may be forwarded to the Chief Town Planner (Planning), 2nd Floor, Dempo Tower, Patto Plaza, Panaji-Goa, before expiry of the said period of thirty days, so that the said proposals along with suggestions, if any received, can be placed before the Goa Town and Country Planning Board for its recommendation/approval/decision in terms of sub-rule (3) of rule 4 of the said Rules, stated Chief Town Planner Vertika Dagur.
The notice stated that the Town and Country Planning Department of the Government of Goa is in receipt of applications under sub-section (1) of section 39A of the Goa Town and Country Planning act, 1974 (Act 21 of 1975).
“Notice is hereby given to the General public, as required by sub-rule (2) of rule 4 of the Goa Town and Country Planning (Change of zone of land in the Regional Plan or the Outline Development Plan) Rules, 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the "said rules"), that the Goa Town and Country Planning Board in it's 229th Meeting held on 12-03-2026 has approved the proposals for change of zones in the Regional Plan for Goa-2021, in respect of the plots of land as specified in table below”, the notice stated.
The public notice published in the local newspaper evoked a host of questions on Tuesday. Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz received queries from various people including activists seeking clarity on the proposed change in zone recommended by TCP. “I am in receipt of so many calls since Tuesday morning following the publication of the public notice. I am trying to find out from the owner about the proposal to change the zone of the properties to no development zone”, he added.
