In the past two years, Goa has witnessed some serious job scam allegations ” barefaced corruption hidden in plain sight.
Despite glaring evidence of large-scale recruitment fraud as per the complainants, the concerned authorities including the vigilance/anti-corruption wing of Goa Police, failed to register a single FIR. Even preliminary inquiries by the Vigilance Department and intervention by the Bombay High Court at Goa have been brushed aside.
The lone case of consequence is that of IT Deputy Director Siddharth Borkar, who was suspended after he allegedly demanded Rs one lakh bribe from a candidate, all of which was recorded by the complainant. This was the only tangible action amid a trail of unanswered questions of alleged inaction into other corruption charges.
