A Mapusa court on Thursday granted a two-day transit remand of the alleged accused John Stephen D’Souza (Steve), owner of Hill Top nightclub, Vagator, to Hyderabad Police in connection with drug cases registered against him.
The Osmania University Police along with Anjuna Police had arrested Steve on Wednesday.
A JMFC court in Mapusa granted two-day transit remand of Steve after a medical report declared him “fit to travel”.
While granting the remand, the court imposed certain conditions, one of which is that Steve will have to be flown by air along with the medical staff required to travel with him.
The Hyderabad police will also have to submit the FIR copy to Steve’s advocate.
Interestingly, while the hearing on the transit remand was going in the court, the alleged accused complained of giddiness. The accused was then taken in an ambulance and admitted to the district hospital.
Based on his health condition, the Hyderabad Police will have to transport him to Hyderabad either on Friday or Saturday. He will have to be produced before a Hyderabad court by Saturday.
Soon after his arrest on Wednesday, Steve was produced for transit remand before the JMFC court where he complained of uneasiness. He was then shifted to the district hospital and the hearing was adjourned pending a report on his health status.
The Osmania University Police had busted an inter-state narcotic racket where a local from Anjuna, Pritesh Borkar was arrested on August 16. The Telangana Police later registered cases and named 10 alleged drug dealers operating from Goa including Steve and Edwin Nunes, owner of the infamous Curlies restaurant.
