Visiting a gym to ensure fitness during the Covid pandemic had unintended consequences after 10 persons tested positive in Canacona.
According to sources, 10 members at a fitness centre in Chaudi-Canacona were recently detected with the virus.
Initially, one member at the gymnasium tested positive and later, a second person was detected with the virus. As the number of gym members testing positive increased, the gym was temporarily shut and all members and staff have advised to carry out tests.
Meanwhile, the total number of Covid infections reached 580 in the taluka on Thursday.
According to Canacona Health Officer Dr Vandana Desai, five Covid cases were detected in Canacona, with 3 in Loliem-Polem and one each at Canacona municipality and Agonda.
There are 151 active cases and 422 persons have recovered from the virus, while seven Covid-related deaths have been recorded in Canacona taluka.
