Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes has asked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to provide a crane at the disposal of the disaster management authorities in Canacona.
Fernandes informed the chief minister during his visit to Canacona that removal of uprooted trees, especially those blocking the highway, following the Cyclone Tauktae had been badly hampered in the absence of a crane with Disaster Management authorities in Canacona.
“We request the government to make available a crane at the disposal of the Canacona Disaster Management,” said Fernandes.
Meanwhile, the Canacona BJP Block submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant requesting a protection wall at Agonda beach.
Canacona BJP Block President Nandip Bhagat claimed there has been around 90% of sand erosion which has almost destroyed the beach and feared that if necessary protection is not carried out, there could be more damage to the famed shore.
The chief minister requested them to await for a solution to the issue by next week.
Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Sachin Naik also submitted a memorandum asking the chief minister to consider octroi payment to the panchayat, which has not been paid to the panchayat for the last several years.
