The daily positivity rate of Covid cases in Goa almost doubled while the active Covid count neared 1,000-mark on Saturday with 154 new cases of the infection being detected from among 1,772 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate stood at 8.6 per cent while the active Covid count of the state has now touched 977.
The total confirmed cases in the state have risen to 56,525 of which 54,713 have recovered. No Covid related deaths were recorded on Saturday and the total Covid victim count of Goa remains steady at 815.
Urban Health Centre Panaji continues to have the highest number of active cases under its jurisdiction with 128 cases being monitored in the capital city. This is followed closely by UHC Margao which is monitoring 112 cases.
Primary Health Centre is close at its heels with 96 cases under it.
Meanwhile, passengers going from Goa to Mumbai via train will now have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at railways stations.
In the view of rising Covid cases in Mumbai and Maharashtra, Passengers arriving in Mumbai from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Goa and Kerala have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at railways stations.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an order and asked the railway authorities to randomly identify passengers and carry out at least 1 thousand tests per day. RAT will also be carried out at Malls, Markets, tourist places etc. in Mumbai.
It will be carried out without the consent of passengers/visitors and BMC has clarified that those who refuse to test will have to face action under epidemic act 1897. Those who are visiting malls will have to pay the cost of Antigen test while BMC will pay for the Random tests carried out at other places.
