The decomposed head of an unidentified person was washed ashore at Sinquerim beach on Tuesday. Lifeguards noticed the decomposed head washed ashore along a rocky area at Sinquerim beach and alert the police.
A Calangute police team retrieved the head and the long hair on the decomposed face has led police to suspect that the deceased could be a female.
The head has been sent for an autopsy at the GMC hospital at Bambolim to determine the gender of the deceased and cause of death.
Calangute Police and Panaji Coastal Security Police are conducting further investigation in the matter.
Meanwhile, the body of a youth was washed ashore at Calangute beach at around 8 am on Tuesday. Lifeguards retrieved the body and handed it over to the police, who sent it for an autopsy.
