Demolition order issued against Ispaat structure at Cuncolim

In a major development, the Deputy Collector Ravishekar G Nipanikar, Margao has directed the Mamlatdar of Salcete to remove the entire structure/ shed constructed by M/s Global Ispaat Ltd at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate by requisitioning the service of demolition squad and restore the land to its original condition and report the compliance on the day of hearing.

The Deputy Collector has further directed Mamlatdar of Salcete to estimate the cost of removal of structure and restoring the land to original condition for recovering the same from M/S Global Ispaat Ltd. Cuncolim Industrial Estate.

Cuncolim MLA and Leader of opposition Yuri Alemao has welcomed the decision of the Deputy Collector, saying the decision will send a clear message to the units operating at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate that illegality will be dealt with a firm hand. 

If sources are to be believed, the demolition squad has fixed the demolition on December 14.

The Deputy Collector's order comes after directions issued to M/s Global Ispaat Ltd to remove the entire structure/shed and restore the land to its original condition and report the compliance went abegging.

The demolition order was issued under Section 32 & 33 of Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968.

Cuncolim MLA Yuri said he had followed up the matter with the district authorities since the shed was erected without any permission. 'Since my election as MLA of Cuncolim, I had raised the issue of illegality and pollution at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate both within the Assembly and outside. We will all fight to stop all sorts of pollution at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate', he asserted.
