Detained PFI members released after furnishing bond, sureties worth Rs 3 L each

MARGAO
All the arrested members of the banned Popular Front of India from the Margao police sub-division were on Thursday released by the Sub-Divisional Magistrates, but not before the Magistrates increased the personal bond amount and two sureties to a total of Rs 3 lakh.

The decision to increase the amount of the personal bond to Rs 1 lakh, besides identical sureties was taken by senior officials after one of the Magistrates ordered the release of the president of the Goa Unit of the PFI, Sheikh Abdul Rauf on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with two identical sureties.

Sources in the know informed that the police in Margao, Fatorda and Maina-Curtorim produced the detained PFI members before the Magistrates only on Thursday after detaining them at the police station during the night.

And, when they were finally produced before the SDMs, they were ordered to execute personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two identical sureties, taking the total amount of bond and sureties to Rs 3 lakh per person.
