The local court on Tuesday sent Yogesh Wazarkar to six days of police custody in connection with the land scam investigation. Wazarkar, a driver attached to the Office of Mamlatdar, Bardez was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for conniving with the masterminds and kingpins to forge documents and cheat the original land owners as well as the government of a whopping amount.
His interrogation will be crucial considering that Mamlatdar Rahul Desai is also suspected to have a role in the scam. The Mamlatdar, who continues to serve at his present position despite First Information Reports, is yet to face action.
