Driving on Goan beaches is an offence under section 188 of the IPC and can attract a hefty fine, however the incident surrounding this Land Rover Defender SUV is just another one of those half a dozen cases of vehicles being driven on the beach.
Mandar Bhagat, president of Goa Bird Conservation network explained that the brown headed gull is a migratory bird which travels to Goa from Eurasia in September and remains in the State up till March.
“Such dangerous behaviour of the tourists should not be entertained and strict action should be taken. Driving on the beach is not only harmful for the public but it also deeply damages the ecosystem for the microorganisms and marine life on the shore,” said Bhagat.
