ECI mandates vax compulsory for candidates' polling agents

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has mandated thatagents nominated by contesting candidates to supervise the process insidepolling booths must be compulsorily fully vaccinated.

If the agents are not fully vaccinated, they will have to inthe alternative produce an RT-PCR negative test report done less than 72 hoursfrom the start of polling on February 14.

Meanwhile, in a deviation from the convention followed inrecent elections, polling agents manning booths on behalf of contestingcandidates have to be registered electors anywhere in the constituency.

In past elections, the Election Commission insisted on thesepoll agents being registered electors in the part (booth) where contestingcandidates are deploying them.
