Ensure no night parties from Aug 11-19: GPCB

MAPUSA

The Goa Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has directed the Anjuna police and North Goa police to ensure that open-air night parties do not take place at Vagator between August 11 and 19.

Sagardeep Shirsaikar of Chapora had complained regarding such parties to the GPCB and some establishments at Ozrant-Vagator are being sealed on the orders of the High Court.

Despite this, some establishments have reportedly planned open air parties between August 11 and 19, which would be in contempt of the High Court.

Shirsaikar has attached posters of these parties with his complaint and has demanded that these establishments should be inspected and if they conduct open-air parties, then authorities should withdraw their permits and cut off electricity to their premises.

Accordingly, the GPCB Member Secretary Sharmila Monteiro has directed the police to act in the matter, and copies have been sent to the North Goa District Collector and the Deputy Collector.
