The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has denounced the excessive renovation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s office at Secretariat. The party lamented that such a lavish expense is a blatant insult to the women of Goa, particularly considering the BJP government’s claim of insufficient funds to fulfill their commitment of providing three free gas cylinders to them as promised in their manifesto.
GFP Vice President Ashma strongly condemned the extravagant renovation demanding that the public exchequer’s money should be utilized appropriately.
The renovated office is set to be inaugurated on Tuesday, May 30 being Goa's Statehood day.
“While Goan households continue to struggle with rising costs and economic hardships, it is deeply disheartening to see the Goa government prioritizing the egoistic desires of the CM and the BJP over the pressing needs of the poor and marginalized sections of our society.
"This wasteful expenditure on the CMO is farcical and demonstrates a severe lack of empathy and understanding of the ground realities faced by Goan women and their families,” she said.
She further stated that the party firmly believes that public funds should be allocated to addressing the urgent needs of the people, particularly those from low-income households.
“The three free gas cylinders for Goan women should have alleviated their financial burden and ensured their well-being. However, the CM continues to be insensitive towards them. His actions tell a story of misplaced priorities and a lack of commitment to crucial social welfare initiatives,” she added.
Ashma called upon the government to immediately re-evaluate its priorities and redirect resources towards projects that genuinely benefit the people.
The party also demanded transparency and accountability from the government citing that the people of Goa ‘deserve a government that is committed to their welfare and places their needs above personal vanity.’
