The State government has accorded its approval for the appointment of former Goa Chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Arvind Kumar H Nair and incumbent OSD of Chief Minister, Atmaram Barve to the post of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and the State Information Commissioner (SIC), respectively.
The three-member selection committee headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar and Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao had cleared the two names. While Nair's name was shortlisted during a meeting held in July, Barve’s name got approval on Thursday.
The two names were sent to the government for approval. Both the posts had fallen vacant in the first week of March, following the end of the term of then CIC Vishwas Satarkar and SIC Sanjay Dhavalikar. As many as 24 applicants were vying for the post of CIC, while 30 had applied for the SIC position.
