The first monthly grievances redressal meeting chaired by the Administrator of Comunidades, South Zone with members of various comunidade bodies took place at the Comunidade office, Old Collectorate on Thursday.
District Collector, South Asvin Chandru had directed the Comunidade Administrator to hold the meeting on the first Thursday of every month, beginning from October 3, to give a platform to the Comunidade bodies and to work out solutions.
After the meeting, the Administrator of Comunidades, Mangaldas Gaonkar told 'The Goan' that though only a handful of attorneys of Comunidades attended the first meeting, he expects a good response to the exercise from next month. He said the meeting gave the attorneys the platform to raise a host of issues and to review the pending works, including repairs to the Comunidade building and illegal structures.
Margao Comunidade attorney Celestin Norohna said a beginning has been made with the first meeting on Thursday. “Hope these meetings will resolve the issues plaguing the Comunidade bodies,” Celestin said.
