Four Karnataka natives arrested for assault on Tamhankar

MAPUSA

Mapusa Police have arrested four persons from Karnataka in connection with an incident of wrongful restraint and assault on social activist Sudip Tamhankar at New KTC Bus Stand, Mapusa.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mounesh Tipanna (22), Narayan Bagali (28), Suresh Kabber (25) and Basavaraj Pujar (34).  Earlier, Mapusa police had swiftly registered an FIR and detained initial suspects.

Tamankar stated that the attack occurred after he publicly alleged that buses belonging to a tours and travel company had illegally entered Goa without proper registration.

Tamhankar emphasised that such violence discourages individuals from speaking out against violations in the transport sector. He maintained that he was simply addressing the issue of unregistered vehicles operating illegally in Goa.
