The invite to the Cuncolim chieftains 'Martyrs Day' event on Friday where local MLA Yuri Alemao's name went missing triggered a furore in the Goa legislative assembly with members walking to the well of the House in protest.
Accusing the government of deliberately sidelining MLAs belonging to the Opposition, Alemao and two other Congress MLAs -- Altone D'Costa and Sankalp Amonkar asked the Speaker to issue directions.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant intervened to diffuse the situation saying that the event was being held for the very first time and that even the name of Minister of Archives and Archeology, Subhash Faldesai, was not figuring on the invitation.
Tawadkar later persuaded the irate members to return to their seats and let the House carry on with the agenda.
