CANACONA
An Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) ‘Mallikarjun’ by Goa Armed Police Camp was launched in Canacona on Saturday.
Inaugurated at the hands of Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Mallikarjun Goa Armed Police (GAP) Camp, Canacona is set up at Mastimoll, behind the Police Station to facilitate the recruits from the taluka.
IGP Goa Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, SP (South) Sunita Sawant, GAP Commandant Edwin Colac, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Sara Shamba Naik Desai, besides DySP Tikam Singh Verma, Canacona PI Harish Raut Desai, IRB police constables from Canacona with their families were present at the function.
"The camp will ensure that local recruits in GAP no longer need to travel long distances for their duties. This significant development brings essential services closer to home, greatly benefiting the community," Tawadkar said.
Meanwhile, Tawadkar celebrated his birthday on the day, earlier laid the foundation stone for a 67-lakh Sulabh Toilet Complex at Chaudi, Canacona.
"This initiative is a significant contribution to the Swachh Bharat mission, aimed at improving sanitation and hygiene standards in the region. The new facility will enhance public health and contribute to the broader goal of a cleaner and healthier community," stated Tawadkar at the unveiling of the foundation stone plaque.
Tawadkar also inaugurated the newly built pre-primary and primary school under the Shram-Dham initiative at Tirval-Poinguinim. "This will help to provide dedicated quality education to all children in the community," he said.
