Condemning the brutal lathi-charge on the villagers of Melauli, the Goa Forward has demanded a judicial probe into the incident.
Addressing the media, Goa Forward General Secretary, Mohandas Lolienkar said that the government is taking Goemkars for a ride.
Referring to the reported incident that Valpoi Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar has stamped on the chest of a lady at the Melauli site, Mohandas said: “If this is true then the concerned officer should be immediately terminated from service”.
Recalling his student days in the late 70s and early 80s when they had agitated over various issues, he said then Chief Minister Pratap Singh Rane never behaved in such an arrogant manner. “Chief Minister Sawant and his government have got a lot of ego. Ego doesn’t sort out problems,” he said.
“The BJP is currently popularly known as the Bharatiya Ganja Party. The trust deficit is the major cause of protests all over Goa. The government has failed to win the confidence of the people. If the government needs to execute any project, then Goemkars need to be taken into confidence,” he added.
Goa Forward vice president Durgadas Kamat said the CM’s body language has completely changed after the Zilla Parishad results. “Arrogance has gone to his head. Post Zilla Parishad results, the Chief Minister wants to just bulldoze and force projects on Goemkars. CM Sawant’s head is filled with a cocktail of Ganja and Power,” Kamat said
Saying that development with consent should have been the mantra if the government wants to get any projects, he, however, said the Chief Minister only believes in lathis. “Probably the Chief Minister doesn’t doesn’t know what is meant by development with consent,” he added.
