Govt offices to work full steam from today

PANAJI
The State government has withdrawn its circular of 50 per cent attendance in offices thereby making it mandatory for all government employees to attend offices daily from tomorrow, Tuesday.

The order is also applicable to semi-government organisations, autonomous bodies and aided institutions. The order also calls for employees above the age of 45 years to get themselves vaccinated and sough details on the number of those vaccinated.

Sources said, government functioning had suffered due to the 50 per cent attendance in offices. The HODs were finding it dificult to manage the show on a daily basis due to the curtailment of the staff.

Meanwhile, the full-strength working of the government from Tuesday has received mixed views at a time when the State is still reporting 500 plus Covid cases.

While the Goa Government Employees Association has still not reacted to the circular, some of the employees said they fear contracting Covid in the buses that don’t maintain proper protocols.

Some feel that the current arrangement should have continued for the next few months.

Former employee association leader John Nazareth said that government should first make proper and safe seating arrangements for office goers and then call them to work.
