The Goa government on Thursday sought additional time to file an amended memorandum of appeal before the Bombay High Court in the case challenging the acquittal of former Editor of Tehelka Tarun Tejpal.
When the case came up for hearing, Advocate appearing for Tarun Tejpal, Kapil Sibal told the court he was yet to receive a copy of the amended appeal following which Advocate General sought one week to further amend the memorandum of appeal and submit a copy to Tejpal’s defence team.
The matter has now been posted for July 29.
“At the request of the learned advocate general, leave is granted to further amend the memo of appeal. AG states that the further amendment will be carried out within a week of one week from today,” the High Court bench of Justices M S Sonak and M S Jawalkar noted.
“The AG said that the copies of amended appeal memo along with all the annexures which are proposed to be relied upon will be furnished to the learned counsel for the respondent within a period of maximum one week thereafter. Stand over to July 29,” the Court said.
