A police sub-inspector and three other policemen were suspended in two separate incidents regarding allegations of extortion.
In the first incident, some couples had gathered at Aguada Fort on Sunday and police had allegedly fined them for violating curfew rules.
Later during an inquiry, it was revealed that the couples were abused and were made to pay Rs 5,000.
An enquiry was carried out by Porvorim DySP Edwin Colaco and PSI Jatin Potdar, Hawaldar Pandurang Sawant and IRB Driver Constable Nilesh Salgaonkar were suspended by North SP Shobit Saxena.
In another incident, ASI Ajit Gaonkar was also suspended on charges of taking money from truck drivers who parked their vehicles near the Dhavali-Farmagudi bypass.
