Margao Municipality’s proposal to set up a 5TPD bio-methanation in the wholesale fish market has raised many an eyebrow in the corridors of the Civic body.
For, the Goa Waste management Corporation (GWMC) has sent a proposal to the Margao Municipality to set up a 15TPD bio-digester at Sonsodo to take care of the city’s future requirements. The GWMC has apparently prepared the 15TPD bio-digester proposal at Sonsodo in view of the ongoing proceedings in the High Court on Sonsodo.
The question that remains unanswered is if the GWMC has sent a proposal to set up a bio-digester proposal at Sonsodo to the MMC, why is the civic body rushing with the proposal to set up a 5TPD bio-methanation plant at the wholesale fish market when it is clear now that a bio-methanation plant does not even accept egg shells nor onion skin, leave alone thermocol and fish waste.
