The Directorate of Education Department has directed the heads of primary to higher secondary schools to hold a “Unity Run” to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31.
A circular issued by Education Director Shailesh Zingde, on Tuesday, states that the heads of government, government-aided and private primary/secondary/higher secondary and special schools should organize Unity Run, and commence with the pledge-taking ceremony.
The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel “in order to foster and reinforce our dedication to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.”
