Lauding BJP’s victory in the recent ZP elections, especially in South Goa, Vasco BJP Block President Deepak Naik has appealed to the government to hold municipal elections on party lines.
“If this is done, the BJP will achieve a thumping victory in the municipal and assembly elections as well,” said Naik.
"There is always a scope of great development when a candidate is a representative of the State or Central government, and we are sure that there will be a great development in areas where BJP ZPs are elected.”
“Municipal elections in other states are held on party lines and the State government must also follow suit," said Naik.
He said there were many objections raised by the opposition on linear projects, IIT and other issues, but people still voted the BJP at the ZP elections.
“There are coal-related issues in Vasco but Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that coal handling will be reduced by 50% and totally stop coal handling once the alternative cargo is available in the port," said Naik.
"We must stand for development works and if I recall there was huge opposition for Konkan Railway, but today it is the most used service. Similarly, we don't realise the importance of development till it is done.”
“I am confident that Vascokars will support double-tracking though we are against coal," said Naik.
