Monsignor Sebastiao Rudolfo Dalgado was truly a great man, who contributed in different areas of literature and that's precisely why Dalgado Konknni Akademi should make our youth aware of his Konknni literary works, said Dr Rafael Fernandes while addressing the audience on Monsignor Dalgado Day.
After garlanding the portrait of Dalgado, Dr Rafael remembered him on his death anniversary saying, “DKA needs to research the works of Dalgado who was a great thinker. One cannot find complete information of his works today. He studied Theology and Philosophy at Rachol Seminary. He was a linguist and knew over 18 languages. Along with Konkani, he studied Bengali, Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Kannada etc and was a Sanskrit scholar too. Dalgado’s contribution to grammar, dictionary and other literary areas is far-fetched."
DKA president Vincy Quadros and treasurer Celso Fernandes who were also present on the dais, spoke too. While referring to Dalgado as a man with different qualities, Quadros disclosed DKA’s plans to reprint the book of Fr Antonio Pereira ‘Dalgado Xastri’ and to collect other literary works of his to present to the new generation. Celso Fernandes welcomed the gathering and DKA vice president Daniel F De Souza proposed a vote of thanks. Tarkeswar Naik compared the programme.
