An Israeli flight El Al with around 250 passengers successfully made an emergency landing at Goa Airport with just one engine in the wee hours of Monday.
Sources told The Goan that the pilot of the Boeing 787 flight noticed a fuel leak indicator light on and as per protocol, had to shut the affected engine and call for an emergency landing.
Sources added that the foreign ministry got in touch with authorities and allowed the passengers and crew to spend a night at a nearby hotel, after each passenger was subjected to RTPCR tests as per Government of India norms.
According to information from Goa Airport Director Gagan Malik, the flight made an emergency landing at Goa Airport at around 4 am.
"The flight was going from Bangkok to Tel Aviv and had around 250 passengers on board. However, there was a problem with the engine and the flight made an emergency landing at Goa Airport. There were around 50 Thai passengers and 200 Israeli passengers on board.”
“None of the passengers were injured due to the emergency landing. Another flight will arrive in Goa on Tuesday to take these passengers back to Tel Aviv," said Malik.
