The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the investigation into the multi-crore jobs-for-cash scam is on right track and that the police are given free hand to arrest anyone involved in the case.
Speaking to media persons, Sawant said that the Director General of Police (DGP) has not used the word ‘clean chit’ in the case, as claimed by the opposition. “Nowhere has the DGP stated in his press conference that the police have given a clean chit to anyone,” he said.
Stating that it was the State government who took suo-moto cognizance into the case thus unearthing major job scam, Sawant said that the investigation is on the right track, and no one will be spared once it is completed.
“No one means no one will be spared,” Sawant said when asked if action will be initiated against any politician, if found involved.
He said that there is complete transparency into the investigation and that the police are given free hand to act. “There is complete transparency, and the police have been given a free hand to investigate the cases. Thorough investigation will be done and I have directed police to arrest whoever they want in the case,” he said.
Till date police have filed 29 FIRs and 33 people have been arrested including a government servant. There are more than hundred victims of this job for cash scam.
Though the opposition has been demanding a judicial probe, the government has ruled out any such possibility. Also, there is no question of setting up a special investigating team (SIT) into the matter, according to the DGP.
