Kidnapping case: Country-made pistol recovered

MAPUSA
Colvale Police have recovered a single bore country-made pistol and five live rounds from the accused involved in the daring kidnapping of the Tivim-based businessman on Saturday.

Police found the pistol near the scene of offence.

The main accused Birender Kumar had hidden the pistol near the abandoned house where the businessman was confined in Agassaim.

It has been revealed that the accused had bought the pistol three years ago.

Meanwhile the five accused have been remanded to eight days police custody by a Mapusa court on Friday.

The accused had kidnapped the plywood dealer Navin Patel at gunpoint on Wednesday noon and later demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore for his release from his wife.

After kidnapping, the victim was dumped in an abandoned house in Agassaim.

Goa Police arrested all the five accused within 24 hours of committing the crime.

Police Sub-Inspector Mandar Parab is investigating further under the guidance of Police Inspector Vijaykumar Chodankar.
