Saying the Kingfish is still out while the Goa police have netted the small fish in the cash-for-job scam, South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes has demanded a CBI inquiry into the cash-for-job scam or a probe by a High Court judge to unearth the mega scam.
"The police have arrested some persons in the case. But they are all small fry. The Kingfish is out of the net for the moment. Only a detailed probe by the CBI or by the High Court judge will unearth the true facts and expose the people working behind the curtains," he told the media.
He added: "The buck stops at the door of the Chief Minister. He has to come clear since the allegations are being levelled against his government."
The MP further said that the government, in its own interest, should hand over the case to the CBI or appoint a High Court judge to investigate the scam.
Alleging that a government official from Vasco is also involved in the cash-for-job scam, Viriato said the police should probe into the claims that this official had demanded Rs 80 lakh for a job.
He claimed that even a Cabinet Minister was asked to pay money for jobs. "The Minister was believed to have expressed his helplessness in arranging the money. Just imagine the fate of the common man," he added.
