Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) distributed high-quality toolkits to the rural artisans of Goa after they were provided training in different skills.
A total of 180 machinery and toolkits were distributed to 90 artisans under the Village Industries Development Scheme. During the distribution programme at Dona Paula, 20 potters from the districts under the State Office of KVIC, Goa, were given electric wheels under the Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana, 100 bee-boxes were given to 10 bee-keepers under the Honey Mission, 20 electricians, 20 plumber machines, and 20 machines were given to 20 artisans and 20 fruit-vegetable processing machines were distributed to the artisans.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Shripad Naik, MP from North Goa and Union Minister of State for Tourism, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KVIC is empowering the artisans of rural India. He appealed to the youth and unemployed people of his Lok Sabha constituency to become self-reliant by joining Khadi and contributing to the Developed India campaign.
KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar while addressing the participants said that various schemes of Khadi and village industries are being run by the commission to employ the unemployed; like workshed for Khadi artisans, KRDP, MMDA, Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, SFURTI Programme and Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana to keep the traditional industries of rural areas alive under Gramodyog Vikas Yojana, Honey Mission, Leather Industry, Agarbatti Industry, Hand Paper. Many schemes are being implemented for electricians and plumbers in the industry, turn woodcraft and service sector.
