K’taka BJP to pass Act against cow slaughter; beef supply to Goa may be hit

BELAGAVI

The Karnataka State Executive of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday adopted a resolution to get the 'Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act' passed in the State, which could severely affect supplies of beef to Goa in the near future.

The Karnataka BJP has also decided to get the 'Love Jihad Prevention Act' passed in the state and to form the disciplinary committee to get these bills passed in the forthcoming session of the state legislative winter to be held from Monday.

Speaking to media persons, BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel briefed the discussions and decisions taken in the BJP executive meet at Gandhi Bhavan in Belagavi on Saturday.

Several cases of ‘cow slaughter’ and 'Love Jihad' have come to light in parts of Karnataka. It is certainly frightening and therefore, we have decided to pass both the Acts, the government will take decisions on bringing these bills,” he said.

If Karnataka passes the anti-cow slaughter bill, supplies of beef to Goa will be affected, as Goa largely relies on beef supplies from North Karnataka region.

He further said the Gram Panchayat elections are fast nearing and it is the elections of party workers.

“Party leaders have been informed to support them to win the elections,” said Kateel.
