Lady dies as van hits scooter in Cuncolim

There seems to be  no letup in the number of fatal accidents reported in the jurisdiction of Cuncolim police station.

After four youngsters, lost their lives in three  separate road accidents on a single day on Monday, a 26-year old young lady scooter rider from Cuncolim died in a road accident at Cuncolim on Wednesday afternoon.

Cuncolim police station in-charge, PI Tukaram Chawan informed that the 26 year old scooter rider Vruta Pai Angle, a resident of Sanvorcotto-Cuncolim, fell on the road and sustained bleeding injuries after a Maruti van dashed against  the two-wheeler.

Vruta was rushed to the Balli Primary Health Centre in a 108 Ambulance, where she was declared brought dead.

PI Chawan informed that that the driver of the van Vivekanand Sawant, aged 58 years,  allegedly drove his van in a rash and negligent manner endangering human life while proceeding from Kegdicotta to Cuncolim market and when he reached near Dr Khurade Clinic at Salemadem-Cuncolim the vehicle hit the  oncoming scooter, due to which the scooter rider Vruta, fell on the road and sustained bleeding injuries. 

The police is conducting further investigations.
