The Village Development Committee (VDC) of the village Panchayat of Rumdamol on Wednesday discussed various developmental proposals to be taken up in the village.
With the Panchayat receiving hardly Rs 19 lakhs under the 15th Finance commission, Panchayat member Saimulla Fainbandh informed that the panchayat is hard pressed to take up major works in the village.
He pointed out that the Panchayat has not yet cleared the electricity dues amounting to around Rs six lakhs for want of funds. “The Panchayat has set up a MRF and baling machine and have received a bill of Rs six lakh towards consumption of power to run the plant”, he said.
To a question, Saimulla said the Panchayat will have no option than to tap other sources of revenue, including revenue from house tax, to fund the development works.
