Minister promises more funds, schemes to ZP as financial situation improves

Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho has assured to allot more funds and schemes to ZP members in the days to come as the financial situation of the State improves.

Godinho was speaking to reporters after inaugurating a community toilet built under ZP funds in the presence of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat, Sancoale Sarpanch Rohini Toraskar, Dy Sarpanch Girish Pillai and others.

“We want to give more funds and schemes to Zilla Parishad. We initially had constraints as the financial situation was not well but this are improving now. The government will definitely provide funds at all levels and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has already allotted us MLA funds of Rs 2 crore per year, which will give us funds of Rs 10 crore over 5 years.”

“We have built a toilet through ZP funds in Zuarinagar and in the past, equipments have also been given through ZP funds. The panchayat is also doing a good job by cleaning up the areas in Zuarinagar and we have seen how people are getting open place to sit and area has been cleaned,” said Godinho.

Cortalim MLA Anton Vas congratulated the Sancoale ZP for having built the community toilet in Sancoale, which was the need of the hour.

"I appeal to people to make the best use of this facility and maintain it by keeping it clean,” said Vas.

Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat said that community toilet is an important facility for poor people in this area who don't have proper toilet facilities in their houses.

“This toilet has been built under ZP funds and we will build more community toilets in this area under ZP funds. We will utilise all our funds to get more development works in our area," said Thorat.
