An unidentified male in his thirties was run over by a train on the stretch between Chandor and Nessai railway stations.
On receiving a report from the Deputy Station Master of Vasco Railway Station (SWR), Vasco Railway Police conducted an on-site inquiry and discovered the body of the deceased lying between the railway tracks.
The man, described as having a strong build, wheatish complexion, and 5’5” tall, was wearing a grey-coloured lungi at the time of the accident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was walking on the railway tracks when he was struck by a passing train. The body sustained multiple injuries due to the impact.
Police legal formalities were completed, and the body has been preserved at SGDH Hospital Morgue, Margao, for identification and post-mortem examination. Vasco Railway Police Station has registered a case under Section 194 of the Indian Railways Act.
Further investigation into the incident is being carried out by PSI Krishna G. Talpi of Vasco Railway Police Station. Authorities have requested assistance from the public in identifying the deceased.
