Margao police has nabbed an accused under the POCSO Act in connection with the minor girl who had delivered a baby boy at the South Goa district hospital last month.Margao Police station in-charge, PI Tulsidas Naik informed that the accused, who was wanted under the POCSO Act has been arrested by the Margao police. The accused has since been handed over to the Gadag police station in Karnataka.
The Colva police had last month registered a zero case and had forwarded the case to the Gadag police station in Karnataka after a mother of a minor girl lodged a complaint stating that her minor daughter has delivered a baby boy at the South Goa district hospital.
The complainant had claimed that when the family had gone to their native place Gadag, Karnataka for the marriage of her elder daughter, the accused got friendly with her minor daughter. The complainant further stated that the accused took her daughter to his relative's house, which usually remains close and had forcible sexual intercourse with her and further threatened the victim not to disclose the incident to anyone.
PI Tulsidas informed that the accused has been working in the jurisdiction of Margao police station and has since been arrested and handed over to the Gadag police for further investigations.
