Three minor girls went missing after they strayed into the forest in Tivim on Thursday and were found four hours later.
According to sources, the incident took place on at about 12 noon when a woman from Mapusa and her 5-year-old twin girls had gone to her sister’s house in Tivim and stayed for the night.
On Thursday afternoon, both girls were playing with an 8-year-old girl from the neighbourhood. As they played, they accidentally strayed 2.5 kms into a forested area along the river.
As the three girls did not come home till 2 pm, their frantic parents began searching all over the place and later contacted the Colvale police, suspecting that the girls may have been kidnapped.
A police team led by Police Inspector Vijay Rane went to the spot and began searching for the three girls with the help of villagers. The three girls were later found on the river bank of the village at around 4 pm, much to the relief of the panic-stricken parents.
