MLA tells power dept, Adani Gas to complete works

Says hotmixing of Raia roads being held up due to their delays

MARGAO

Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday has cautioned the Power department as well as Adani Gas to complete their on going works in the constituency saying he will have no option than to start hot mixing of the roads before completion of the underground cabling and gas line laying works.

Conceding that some of the roads are in bad shape after they were dug up for laying of the underground cables and for the Adani gas line, Reginaldo exuded confidence that all roads in the constituency will soon see a turnaround after the hot mix plants start their operations.

Briefing the media, the Independent MLA informed that work on the Manora Raia road will start no sooner the hot mix plants start their operations. “I have been closely following up the road repair and hot mixing work of the Manora road. After the road work received the administrative approval and financial sanction, the PWD has issued the work order to the contractor to start the work on the Manora road. The work would start after the hot mixing plants start their operations”, he said.

Saying that hot mixing plants in the state start its operations normally in the month of November or November end, as per the practice followed by the PWD over the years, Reginaldo said opponents are creating confusion on the repairs on the Manora road despite the government issuing work order to the contractor.

Making an appeal to the people not to lose their patience, Reginaldo said he has taken up all the roads in the constituency craving for attention irrespective of political considerations. “We will provide an efficient and good road network in the constituency”, he said.

As far as the Housing Board area of the constituency is concerned, Reginaldo said there was an allegation that while roads in Housing Board are in a dilapidated condition, neighbouring Fatorda enjoys a good network of roads. “One has to understand that Fatorda’s roads were all spruced up during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year. Some of these roads were taken up sans proper procedure to ensure their completion before the PM’ visit. The roads in the Housing Board will be taken up for repairs and hot mixing in the scheme of things”, he added.
