MPA handled 21.01 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo during FY 2025“26, registering a growth of 16% over the previous financial year. This is the highest growth rate among the 12 major ports in the country.
The port’s performance significantly surpasses the overall growth of major ports, which collectively handled 915 MMT of cargo in FY 2025“26 as compared to 854 MMT in FY 2024“25, reflecting a growth of 7.14%.
The growth in cargo handling was driven by improved performance across multiple segments. Dry bulk cargo recorded a growth of 16.73%, while other miscellaneous cargo increased by 34.56%. Finished fertilisers witnessed a growth of 20.92%. Iron ore (including pellets) and liquid cargo also registered growth of 1.83% and 1.22%, respectively.
These trends indicate continued efforts by the port towards diversification of cargo and strengthening of its cargo profile.
On the financial front, MPA recorded an operating Income of Rs 583 crore during FY 2025“26, which is the highest in the last five years.
During the year, the port completed several infrastructure development projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and sustainability. These include commissioning of a 3 MWp solar power plant, modification of railway lines No. 8 & 8A, installation of a Firefighting System at Berth No. 8, laying of a pipeline for reuse of treated sewage water from Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, and construction of a covered shed at Berths 5 & 6 through PPP mode.
