The 60-bedded Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) Hospital has begun functioning as a Covid Care Centre in the port town.
In a press release, the MPT stated that South Goa collector had directed the Chief Medical Officer of MPT to hand over the entire MPT hospital premises along with the doctors, para medical and entire support staff presently working in the hospital.
“Accordingly, the MPT hospital was handed over to State Administration along with the doctors, para medical staff and entire support staff on April 24.”
“The MPT hospital is a 60-bedded hospital, catering to the medical needs of port employees’ and pensioners. As per the order, the 60-bedded hospital along with 3 medical officers, 6 nurses and 10 hospital attendant’s services are now being availed by public at the MPT Hospital which is now being made as Intermediate Step Down Covid Care Hospital with effect from April.”
During the first wave of Covid-19, the MPT Hospital was handed over to the state administration to function as a Covid Care Centre, along with doctors, para medical staff and hospital attendants from June 2020 to November 2020.
