The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has appealed to the Catholic community in the State and across the country to observe May 7 as a special day of prayer and penance for relief from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrão had recently stated in a circular letter to the clergy, religious and lay faithful that the Catholic community in the archdiocese would join the Church in India in observing May 7 as a special day of prayer and penance.
Archbishop Ferrão has also proposed observing May 13, the day of Our Lady of Fatima, as a special day of prayer and fasting in the Archdiocese.
He has appealed particularly to priests and religious in the archdiocese to spend at least one hour before the Blessed Sacrament, praying earnestly for this intention.
