Employees of Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank (MUCB) have threatened to go on strike from March 30 if they do not receive their gratuity and other dues entitled to them.
The bank employee's union president Subhash Naik George sent a notice to the MUCB liquidator Daulatrao Hawaldar, stating that he had failed to clear the pending dues of the employees.
“We are aware of the fact that RBI has cancelled the MUCB's banking license on April 16, 2020. You have been assigned as bank's liquidator to hand back money of depositors depositors as well as bank employees' gratuity, pending salaries and leave encashment.”
“You started the process to return the money of depositors and we don't have any objection to that. But you have not distributed the legal dues of bank employees yet.”
“There is a provision to pay employees, which has been approved by RBI. Still, employees have not been paid and this is the violation of human rights.”
“Please clear the pending salaries or employees and officials will go on a protest from March 30 in front of bank's office, Azad Maidan, RBI office and various different venues,” warned George.
