Nigerian arrested for overstaying

A 38-year-old Nigerian was on Sunday arrested for allegedly overstaying in India, police informed.

Police said Innocent Chiukwu, who had come to India was found staying illegally at Badem, Assagao without valid travel documents thereby contravening the provisions of Foreigners Order 1948 & Foreigners Act 1946.

A police team arrested the accused and further produced him before the JMFC Mapusa who remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.

A case under section 7 (1) (3) (iii) of Foreigners Order 1948 and punishable under section 14 of Foreigners Act 1946 was registered against the accused.
