CANACONA
Assuring that forest officials would not interfere with the private property of tribal people in Canacona, the District Conservator of Forest (DCF) has assured that the finalisation of forest claims and the Reserved Forest issue will be resolved soon.
The DCR was speaking at a Camp Court conducted by Goa Commission for SC/ST at Canacona, which has been organised by GCSCST Chairman Ramesh Tawadkar. This is the second such court camp to have been conducted in Canacona.
About 250 people attended the Camp Court seeking redressal of their grievances regarding the Forest Rights Act, reserved forest, Kumeri land, water supply and roads in the tribal areas like Nadkem Marlim, Manye and Tirwal areas in Cotigao village.
The DCF advised the aggrieved locals to submit their applications to the Settlement Officer in connection with land issues.
Stating that the reserved forest issue would be resolved within one month, the DCF assured that the forest department would not interfere with the private property of the tribal people.
The DCF also informed the locals that the finalisation of the forest claims would be taken up to resolve all cases.
The State SC/ST Commission also took up the issue of construction of a culvert and a few internal roads in tribal areas.
